Is it possible to sleep a better way that with the sound of the Pacific ocean and the waves dying on the beach? So, magnificient, the Van was parked around 15 seconds walking from the awesome Manzanilla bay.
We also took the time to wash the van, really dirty. After we took the time to stare at the bay and the village (Just simply amazing), we head up to Manzanillo. The temperature was perfect, more and more palm trees and bananas plantations.
The city of Manzanillo is nicely situated, a big merchandise harbour and an airport near the city. The beach is beautiful. Just before the city, we saw two campers from Quebec! About 50 miles further, two others campers from Quebec on the side of the road. We finally stopped a short time just to talk with them, and we all followed us for a certain time.
When we enter the Michoacan state, we saw our first big 'hairy' spiders (Tarantula?) crossing the road. We saw lot of them and stopped further to take a quickly picture of one (We stopped the car in the middle of the road, so we didn't took the time to take a good picture).
Other friends we saw, lot of horses and cows in the middle of the road. So other thing about the day, many revision post were in function, I don't know if they're in function in the day but from 16h00 or 17h00 for sure. We pass about 7 posts! The 5 firsts, we had to get out the car and show our passports, and 3 or 4 guys looked everywhere in our car. The 2 last posts were okay, they let us continue our road without stopping us.
A funny thing at one of the post, at the end of the revision, the engine refused to start. We pushed the van further, and finally it was just a bad contact on the negative pole of the battery.
Our direction was Playa Azul, the nearest city wrote on our maps. The sun finally let us alone a long time before Playa Azul, and the roads were really dangerous because of the curves and the animals often in the middle of the road.
Finally, around 21h00, we arrived in Plaza Azul. We looked for a place to sleep but didn't found anything..so we decided to go out the city, not too far. Something strange, another kind of post but not army post, guys from the police armed with M16. With chance, they let us alone and don't asked us to stop the car. We finally found a place in a little street, in a residential neighborhood.
We take this chance to sleep here, hoping that nobody will wake us.
Here is the map of the day! |
